It was a slow drive today with the flooded roads surrounding Devil's Lake. Several of the roads are being rebuilt and raised, so we waited in several spots for construction vehicles.
It was a bit scary driving along the roads with water lapping the sides.
Route 2 took us through miles and miles of beautiful farm land. The colors of the fields were spectacular.
Below is my Claude Monet haystack series.
Point of Interest for the day was the center of North America located in Rugby, ND.
Rugby is also the home of Toe Jam. It's a mixture of several different berries. Yum!
If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there.
The afternoon drive took us through the heavy oil producing towns of North Dakota. From Rugby to Williston, we saw work on pipe lines, oil rigs, and many oil supply businesses. I have never seen so many pick up trucks, semi trucks, or tankers in my life. The towns were windy, dusty, and dirty. They were dotted with RV parks that house the oil workers. There's a lot of oil business going on to add to the north Dakota economy.
Our home for the night is Fort Peck Army Corp of Engineers, Fort Peck, MT
This was a lovely campsite...sunny and warm too.
Play time...again!
Next morning...Do we have to go?
Next stop is Glacier National Park.
Location:Drive to Fort Peck, MT
Toe jam...Doesn't sound too appetizing. Looks like the mutts are having fun!
ReplyDeleteLove the haystacks. Do the mutts ever get tired?
