Heading West

Tuesday, August 13

Off we go...finally heading west! Our goal was to reach Devil's Lake, North Dakota.
Estimated drives 355 miles.

For our longer driving days, Tom plans to look for a point of interest along the way. Today we visited Bemidji, the first city on the Mississippi River. Paul Bunyan and his blue ox Babe have been mainstays on the shores of Lake Bemidji since 1937.

Hmmmm....quite an impressive guy!

Lake Bemidji

How about a little exercise?

The drive was longer than anticipated with road construction along the way. Many roads were being rebuilt due to flooding in the area. The road to the state park was a bit tricky with water lapping the bouldered sides of the roads.

Devi's Lake State Park
We found a beautiful spot surrounded by trees and lush grass with a view to the lake.

Looking good!
